Surface Preparation

Preparation of the floor on cement based surfaces The surface must be sound, clean, free from dirt and grease. Foreign substances such as mold oil, paraffin on exposed concrete surfaces should be removed from the surface. Following the repair, the surface should be wetted very well with water, and after the excess water is removed from the surface, the application should be made on the damp surface. (Barkiteks can never be applied on dry surfaces).

Application

Pour 10 kg of liquid component into a clean container. Slowly pour 25 kg of powder component into it while stirring. Then continue mixing until all the lumps disappear. After the mixing process is finished, leave the mixture to rest for 5 minutes. At the end of 5 minutes, a pre-mixing is performed again and the application is started.

Application Method

Application can be done by brush, roller or trowel. Maximum 2 mm thickness should be created on each layer in brush and roller applications and maximum 5 mm thickness should be created in trowel applications. It is recommended to use an alkali resistant mesh on flimsy surfaces such as weak screeds and cracking plasters. For 24 hours, the application surface should be protected from flooding and direct sunlight. The material gains its mechanical strength within 2 days and becomes waterproof after 7 days.
